Here's a recipe that's great for a chilly evening:


     1/2 lb.            ground beef (I used a pound)

     3/4 cup          chopped celery

     3/4 cup          chopped carrots

     4 cup             diced potato

     3/4 cup          chopped onion (I didn't really measure the veggies)

     3 cup.            chicken broth (I used 2 cans)

     1 teaspoon    parsley flakes

     1 teaspoon    basil leaves


Brown ground beef and set aside.  Put 1/4 butter in large pan.  Add flour and stir together until slightly cooked (browned and I used 2 teaspoon flour).  Add chicken broth, parsley, basil, onion, potato, carrots, and celery.  Let this simmer until veggies are cooked.  Next add 1 1/2 cup milk, 2 cups grated cheddar cheese, browned beef, and heat to boiling.  Stir in 1/2 cup sour cream just before serving.  (Next time, I'm probably going to make twice as much.  It is yummy!)  Mary Jo
