Sweet Chocolate Covered Strawberries

This simple dessert is great on a buffet or better yet, what a sweet treat for that special someone. Wayneís version of Chocolate covered Strawberries uses a sweet chocolate to blanket those juicy berries. And, this is one of those desserts where you can justify...itís fruit - itís good for you!


     1          quart Fresh Strawberries

     8          ounces Sweet Chocolate

     1-1/2    tablespoons Grand Marnier (optional)


Rinse the strawberries. Keep the stems on. Allow to dry. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler (a pan over a steaming pan of water). Whisk in the Grand Marnier if used. Dip each strawberry in the chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off. Place on a sheet of wax paper. Allow to cool before serving. Makes about 18.


Note: Several years ago I featured Jane Sharrock and her cookbook "Who Wants Candy."  One of her many helpful hints regarding Chocolate Covered Strawberries - Helpful Hint: Turn a colander upside down and place the toothpicks with the chocolate covered strawberries in the holes. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
